Frank Isensee (Assemblies of God Missionary)

Frank Isensee was an Assemblies of God missionary who labored to bring the message of Christ to people far from established churches and Christian teaching. On April 16, 1951, he died in an accident while pressing toward a Peruvian city to share the Gospel. Though not a public figure in the wider world, his life reflects a familiar pattern in Christian mission: ordinary servants taking costly steps of obedience so others may hear of Jesus.

Isensee’s work belongs to the long history of believers who have carried the good news across borders, languages, and hardships, trusting God to open hearts. “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…” (Romans 1:16). Scripture honors the mindset that values finishing faithfully over living comfortably: “But I consider my life of no value to me, if only I may finish my course and complete the ministry I have received from the Lord Jesus—the ministry of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.” (Acts 20:24).

His example continues to call the Church to prayer, generosity, and readiness—whether across oceans or across the street. Even when outcomes are hidden, God’s providence is not. Faithful witness, offered in love and surrendered to Christ, is never in vain.
